Our verdict on Sling TV

Sling TV is a live television streaming service for viewers in the United States and Puerto Rico. It suits people who want to select a channel package rather than take one fixed lineup, with options spanning sports, news, entertainment and family programming. The service also has Freestream, a separate ad-supported service, while its paid packages include live channels and on-demand movies and shows. Package and local-channel availability vary by plan and location, so the fit depends on which channels a household wants.

The package structure ranges from Sling Essentials and Sling Select, each with 10+ paid channels, to Sling Orange with 30+, Sling Blue with 40+, and Orange & Blue with 50+. Essentials includes one simultaneous stream; Select and Blue allow three, while Essentials & Select and Orange & Blue allow up to four. Orange focuses on sports and family programming, and Blue on news and entertainment. Subscribers can add themed Extras or premium services. Sling Orange passes are also available for short-term viewing.
