SimpleBackups GitHub Backup copies GitHub repositories and associated metadata, including issues, pull requests, releases, wikis, labels, milestones, LFS objects and projects. It is aimed at individuals and teams that want scheduled copies and a path to restore a repository or an entire organization. Backups can be stored in SimpleStorage or directed to customer-owned destinations, and archives can also be downloaded in compressed form. The service is available as a cloud offering, with an option to run backups from a customer-owned server.

The GitHub-specific offer pairs the Basic plan with a $10-per-month GitHub add-on. That add-on covers one GitHub account, daily backup frequency, 1 GB of SimpleStorage and the option to bring your own storage. The general Basic plan is free and includes one backup job and 1 GB of SimpleStorage; the published Lite, Plus and Max plans cost $49, $99 and $299 per month, respectively. Those tiers list more included backups and storage, with intervals of up to 12 hours, one hour and five minutes. Plus adds unlimited team members, while Max includes a Developer API. These plan differences matter if daily backups are not frequent enough or if the included storage does not fit your archive needs.

Storage choice and restore scope are central strengths: integrations include S3, SFTP, Google Cloud Storage, Backblaze B2, Wasabi and Cloudflare R2, alongside GitHub, GitLab and Gitea. Configurable retention, API automation, AES-256 encryption and audit logs round out the controls. Email and documentation are the listed support channels, and the product lists ISO 27001 and GDPR. Choose it if GitHub metadata backup, customer-owned storage or organization-level restore is important. Teams seeking a free GitHub-specific setup or backup intervals more frequent than daily should compare the listed tiers and fit before committing.
