Shuffle review
A capable free Finder alternative for Mac users who want dual panes and cloud access.

Shuffle is a native macOS file manager designed as an alternative to Finder, with a particular fit for power users working with large directories. Its dual-pane split canvas, tabbed browsing, command palette, terminal-style navigation, Quick Look previews, filtering, batch renaming, and archive browsing bring several focused navigation tools into one application. It supports macOS 12 and later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and is distributed as free open-source software under the MIT license.
The free plan includes dual panes and tabs, command palette and filtering, deep theming, and access to the open-source code. The published plan structure shows no paid tier currently offered, although the product website describes a possible future one-time Pro purchase. For buyers comparing file managers, that makes Shuffle straightforward to evaluate: the available plan is free, while the longer-term commercial direction is not yet part of the current offering. Customizable themes and color presets also give users control over the interface without adding a paid tier.
Shuffle’s strongest practical fit is its combination of structured navigation and cloud-aware access. It offers automatic access to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, and servers, while tab reordering and pane transfers support multi-location workflows. Archive browsing without extraction and the file information inspector add useful file-handling context. However, the platform scope is narrow: it runs only on macOS, and requires macOS 12 or later. Choose Shuffle if you want a free, open-source Mac file manager with dual panes, command-driven navigation, cloud integrations, and theming. Choose another option if you need Windows or Linux support, or if you are specifically looking for an established paid Pro tier.
