Shoeboxed is receipt management software for small-business owners, freelancers, accountants, and bookkeepers. It brings paper and digital receipts into one system through iOS and Android uploads, email forwarding, web drag-and-drop, and prepaid Magic Envelopes. OCR extracts receipt data, while human verification reviews the extracted information. The service also supports line-item extraction, tax categorization, receipt search, mileage tracking, expense reports with attached images, CSV export, and accounting integrations.
Pricing is structured around four paid plans, with monthly and annual options. Starter costs $9 per month or $97 per year and includes 30 digital scans per month, 20 paper scans per year, one Magic Envelope per year, unlimited mileage tracking, mobile apps, and three years of digital scan storage. Pro costs $29 per month or $297 per year, raising capacity to 200 digital scans and 20 paper scans per month, adding quarterly Magic Envelopes, Gmail receipt sync, QuickBooks Online and Xero integrations, and three users. Plus costs $79 per month or $797 per year, with 750 digital scans, 50 paper scans, monthly Magic Envelopes, and 10 users. Paper Plus costs $179 per month or $1,997 per year, with 500 digital scans, 200 paper scans, two Magic Envelopes monthly, accounting integrations, and priority email and phone support. A 30-day trial is available.
Its platform and ecosystem coverage suit businesses with mixed receipt workflows. Shoeboxed runs on the web, iOS, Android, and API, and connects with tools including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Wave, Gmail, Dropbox, Evernote, Bench, and ScanSnap. The plan structure makes the main trade-off clear: Starter suits lighter digital workloads, while Pro and Plus add higher limits, collaboration, email sync, and accounting connections. Paper Plus is aimed at organizations handling more physical paperwork and needing priority support. Choose Shoeboxed when human-verified processing and multiple capture channels matter; consider another option if a free plan or unrestricted scanning is essential.
