Our verdict on Shh
Shh is a web-based AI companion app for adults who want text conversations with fictional AI girlfriend characters. Users can choose characters by personality and category, chat through a browser, and continue conversations with memory across sessions. The experience also includes generated photo requests, character photos, voice messages, and live voice calls. Guest access lets people enter before registering, while conversation storage is encrypted and scoped to the user account. Shh requires users to be at least 18 and is positioned for entertainment.
The free beta is the central part of Shh's offer. It includes unlimited messages with every character, all photos including spicy ones, five minutes of live voice calls each day, and memory across every chat. The published plan also covers voice messages and the broader character-chat experience without requiring a payment card. This makes Shh a straightforward option for users who want to explore AI companion conversations without an upfront subscription during the beta period. The daily call allowance matters for buyers who view live voice as the main feature, while text chat and memory receive broader access.
Shh's strongest fit is a browser-first user who values character choice, continuity, generated images, and voice in one companion app. Persistent memory is a notable part of the experience because it carries stored facts, relationship context, and conversation summaries across sessions. The trade-offs are its web-only platform coverage, adult fictional focus, and five-minute daily limit for live calls. Users seeking a mobile app, a non-adult companion experience, or longer voice conversations should look for an alternative. Users comfortable with browser access and beta software should find Shh's combination of free access, memory, photos, and voice particularly relevant.
