sharkfin review
A free cross-platform keyboard configurator with layers, macros, lighting and backups.

sharkfin is free, open-source software for configuring keyboards built on ROYUAN hardware, including models sold by Attack Shark, Akko, Epomaker, MonsGeek and other brands. It is aimed at solo users and small teams who want a cross-platform configuration tool rather than replacement firmware. The product runs as a browser app or desktop application on Windows, macOS and Linux, with a keyboard setup workflow for unsupported boards. Supported configurations are stored on the keyboard itself.
Its strongest area is the depth of keyboard customization. Users can remap keys across base and Fn layers, record macros with per-event delays, and adjust lighting effects, colors, brightness and speed. Per-key color painting adds more granular lighting control. On supported magnetic-switch boards, sharkfin also provides actuation and rapid-trigger settings. Device options include debounce, Windows-key lock and sleep timers, while backup and restore covers keymaps, lighting and settings. This makes the software a fit for users who want configuration and recovery tools in one keyboard-focused interface.
The main trade-off is scope. sharkfin does not provide verified mouse-sensor customization, so it is not a complete keyboard-and-mouse control suite. It also lacks verified polling-rate controls and application-specific automatic profile switching, which may matter to users who want broader gaming-device tuning or context-aware settings. The official site marks the product beta, and support is provided through community channels and documentation. Choose sharkfin for supported ROYUAN-based keyboards, open-source software and cross-platform access; choose an alternative if mouse controls, automatic per-app profiles or verified polling-rate adjustment are priorities.
