Our verdict on SetPrep
SetPrep is a desktop AI application for DJs who plan sets from an existing music library. It reads Rekordbox, Serato, and Traktor libraries, analyzes tracks, and proposes an ordered mix using one of ten selectable mixing styles. The product also adds energy-arc track colors, per-track transition notes, optional star ratings by set position, and exports in plain text, Markdown, or CSV formats. It is available for Windows and macOS and is in invite-gated beta.
The pricing structure starts with a Free plan that includes mix planning, all ten mixing styles, automatic energy-arc coloring, transition notes, native library reading, and plain-text tracklist export. Pro Monthly costs £5.99 per month and adds unlimited mix history, natural-language smart playlists, smart track swaps with ranked alternatives and reasons, native writing to Rekordbox, Serato, and Traktor, Markdown and CSV exports, and priority email support. Pro Annual costs £59.99 per year, includes the Pro Monthly features, offers a stated 17% saving versus monthly billing, and includes a price-lock guarantee.
SetPrep’s strongest fit is library preparation rather than finished audio production. Its smart playlists, ranked track alternatives, duplicate and missing-file tools, forgotten-gem discovery, and metadata features support DJs who want more structure before performing. The product includes beat matching, automated mixing, and AI track selection, but it does not provide stem separation and does not export completed mixes. Choose it if your workflow centers on Rekordbox, Serato, or Traktor libraries and you want AI-assisted planning plus metadata updates. DJs seeking a browser-based workflow or rendered mix files should look elsewhere.
