Our verdict on SessionHQ
SessionHQ is a web-based check-in, pass-management, attendance, and payment platform for class-based gyms, studios, and schools. It supports PIN, NFC card, QR code, self-service kiosk, and phone-browser check-in, giving operators several ways to handle arrivals. Members can book classes, manage recurring sessions, pay through Square, and use passes with auto-renewal. Administrators can manage team access, waivers, member photos, and live attendance. It is best suited to studios that want check-in and membership workflows in one browser-based system.
The plan structure separates single-location operations from multi-venue management. Studio includes unlimited active members, unlimited classes and sessions, check-in through PIN, NFC, and QR kiosks, pass management, Square payment integration, and analytics for attendance, revenue, retention, and lifetime value. Its founding-studio beta pricing may change when general availability launches. Scale includes everything in Studio, then adds multiple venues, per-venue reporting, dedicated onboarding, and SLAs and DPA on request. Scale pricing is custom, making it a better fit for operators whose needs extend across locations.
SessionHQ’s strongest functional area is the connection between physical attendance and operational reporting. Live attendance reporting sits alongside class bookings, payments, recurring sessions, and retention and LTV analytics, while Mailchimp, Brevo, and Square provide the listed ecosystem connections. The trade-off is breadth of access: the product is web-only, and Studio does not cover multiple venues. Choose SessionHQ if flexible check-in methods, class management, and venue reporting matter more than native mobile applications. A single-location studio can start with Studio, while a multi-location operator should evaluate Scale’s custom structure and onboarding provisions.
