ServiceNow ITSM is a cloud-based platform for enterprise IT teams managing incidents, problems, changes, requests, assets, and configuration data. Its incident capabilities cover intelligent routing, AI recommendations, major-incident coordination, on-call schedules, escalation policies, stakeholder communications, self-service, collaboration, reporting, and post-incident documentation. The breadth and governance model make it a strong fit for large organizations with formal service-management processes and complex incident response responsibilities.

The published packages are ITSM Foundation, ITSM Advanced, and ITSM Prime. Foundation includes Service Catalog and Request Management, Incident Management, Asset Management and CMDB, Virtual Agent, and Workflow. Advanced includes Foundation plus Major Incident Management, On-Call Management, Change Management, and Problem Management. Prime includes Foundation and Advanced, along with AI agents for ITSM, an AI agent for Digital End-User Experience, DevOps Change Velocity, and Digital Product Release. ServiceNow uses contact-sales pricing, so package selection and licensing need to be discussed with the vendor rather than compared through public plan prices.

ServiceNow ITSM fits teams that need structured major-incident workflows, roster rotations, escalation policies, stakeholder announcements, post-incident reports, and omnichannel self-service through portal, chat, Teams, Slack, email, and mobile. Slack collaboration channels, incident slash commands, Microsoft Teams collaboration with message-history import, and Zoom Team Chat support help it fit established communication environments. The trade-off is a web-only platform with a basic status-page capability, while the documented status-page function depends on activating the corresponding plugin. Smaller teams seeking a narrowly focused incident tool, public pricing, or broader platform coverage should consider alternatives.

    • Post-incident reports capture findings, resolution, and timelines

    • Web-only platform coverage
    • Status-page capability is basic
