Service Scheduler is a free Windows utility for administrators who need scheduled control over Windows Services. It can start, stop, or restart selected services at configured times, with support for recurring tasks, one-time operations, and weekday or weekend schedules. Its portable executable supports Windows 10 and 11 plus several Windows Server releases, making it suited to service maintenance rather than broad startup application management.

The scheduling model is practical and focused. Service Scheduler creates Windows Task Scheduler tasks that run PowerShell commands, and scheduled operations can be disabled when they are no longer needed. Tasks can also be run immediately for testing before they are left to operate on a schedule. This gives administrators a direct way to manage service state without keeping the application open on the computer.

Its main limitation is scope. Service Scheduler is designed for Windows Service operations, not as a conventional startup-item manager, so it is a better fit for scheduled service control than for managing applications that launch when Windows starts. Choose it when a free, portable utility for Windows 10, Windows 11, or supported Windows Server environments meets the need. Choose a broader startup manager instead when the requirement includes general startup applications or other operating systems.
