Our verdict on Sequence Billing

Sequence Billing is a web and API platform for B2B companies managing usage-based, seat-based, milestone, percentage-based, or hybrid pricing. It is aimed at finance and commercial teams in high-growth and sales-led businesses that need billing to reflect contracts, usage events, pricing ramps, minimum commitments, credits, and payment workflows. The platform accepts usage events through APIs or data-warehouse synchronization, calculates custom metrics, and generates usage-based invoices with live totals and bulk recalculation.

Pricing starts with the Growth plan at $799 per month. It includes native invoicing, usage metering, advanced pricing models, bespoke contract terms, ERP connectors, and CRM connectors. Core includes everything in Growth plus sales tax connectors, NetSuite and Salesforce connectors, and priority support. Scale includes everything in Core plus a dedicated onboarding manager, migration service, engineer support, a shared Slack channel, and custom connectors. The published plans show a clear progression from core billing capabilities to implementation and support services, while Core and Scale are priced on a bespoke basis.

The platform’s main strength is breadth within complex billing operations. Its usage event API, event filtering, and support for linear, volume, graduated, packaged, and percentage-based pricing give teams several ways to model charges. Prepaid cash and unit credits can draw down automatically, while contract intake and extraction, billing phases, amendments, proration, cancellations, credit notes, reconciliation, reminders, and dunning cover much of the revenue workflow. Integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Attio, QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Stripe, GoCardless, and tax platforms such as Avalara and Anrok. Teams seeking sophisticated contract-aware billing should consider Sequence Billing; smaller businesses with simple recurring charges may find its $799 monthly starting point difficult to justify.
