Sentinel EMS is Thales’ web-based licensing and entitlement management platform for software and hardware vendors. It is designed for teams that need to package products, generate licenses and entitlements, manage activation and renewals, and connect monetization workflows with enterprise systems. Its deployment coverage includes SaaS, cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and other software models. The platform supports subscription, perpetual, seat-based, per-use, prepaid, postpaid, usage-based, pay-as-you-go, and hybrid billing models.

The main strength is breadth across the licensing lifecycle. Sentinel EMS combines product catalog management, entitlement fulfillment, subscription management, usage measurement, aggregation, reporting, overage calculation, and webhook notifications. Vendor, customer, and partner portals support self-service entitlement operations, while REST APIs connect the platform with back-office automation. Integrations include Salesforce, CRM systems, ERP systems, Billwerk, and billing systems, giving software vendors options for fitting licensing workflows into an existing commercial environment.

Pricing follows a contact-sales model rather than a published plan structure. Usage-based monetization is supported through UBMM, an add-on that requires an active subscription plan and is currently available for Services enforcement. Payment gateways are handled through third-party systems, so Sentinel EMS is better suited to vendors assembling a broader billing architecture than to teams seeking a standalone payment platform. Choose it when licensing flexibility, entitlement control, usage metering, portals, and enterprise integration are central requirements. Consider an alternative if you need built-in payment processing as the primary capability or prefer a self-serve pricing model.
