SeKejap review
A local SQL database that combines graph, spatial, vector, and full-text queries.

SeKejap is an embedded database for developers building local, mobile, edge, or server-side applications. It brings relational records, graph relationships, spatial data, vectors, and full-text search into one engine, with SQL and graph patterns as its query interface. Developers who want application data stored locally and queried in-process may find its scope a fit, particularly when a workload spans more than graph relationships alone.
Its distinctive strength is combining query types: graph traversal uses SELECT … FROM MATCH and supports variable-length paths, while SQL filtering, grouping, and aggregation operate on relational tables. Spatial data supports indexed location queries; vector columns can use HNSW indexes for similarity search; and full-text search includes BM25 relevance and typo tolerance. Those operations can be combined in a query. This makes SeKejap more relevant to developers handling connected data alongside search or location tasks than to teams seeking a graph-only engine or a catalog of graph algorithms.
The embedded model keeps database files on local disk and runs within an application. A CLI can provide HTTP connectivity or access for PostgreSQL clients, and libraries or bindings are described for Rust, Python, Dart, Kotlin, Swift, Java, Node.js, and Go. SeKejap is open source under MIT and Apache-2.0 licenses, with docs and community support. Its positioning is strongest for solo developers and small teams building local or mobile applications; organizations looking for listed integrations, graph algorithms, or a broader general-purpose graph-database offering should consider alternatives. The published capabilities center on embedding and multimodel queries rather than a hosted-service ecosystem.
SeKejap pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Combines graph traversal with SQL filtering, grouping, and aggregation
- Supports spatial, vector, and full-text search in the same query
- Runs embedded with local files and bindings for multiple languages
- Where it doesn't
- No listed graph algorithms or integrations
- Focuses on embedded, local-disk use rather than a general hosted database
- Docs and community are the listed support channels
