Our verdict on Scandroid
Scandroid is an Android document-scanning app for people who want to capture, edit, recognize, and share documents locally. It uses Google ML Kit for on-device scanning, automatically detects document edges, corrects perspective, and stores scans without an account. The app supports gallery imports, cropping, rotation, filters, JPEG exports, and multi-page PDF exports, making it suited to personal document capture where offline access and local handling matter.
The Free plan keeps scanning, editing, exporting, and sharing available at no cost. Scandroid Pro adds unlimited text recognition and smart data detection, with monthly, annual, and one-time purchase options. OCR can extract and copy text across multiple scripts, including Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Devanagari. Smart detection identifies phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, dates, IBANs, and tracking numbers, giving the app more utility than a basic camera-to-PDF workflow.
Its main trade-off is platform and ecosystem scope. Scandroid is available for Android, with no iOS app and no integrations, so it fits users who are comfortable keeping scans within a standalone mobile app. Local storage, offline processing, and no account requirement make it a focused choice for private document capture, while JPEG sharing and multi-page PDFs cover common export needs. Choose Scandroid for Android-based scanning with local OCR and simple exports; choose an alternative if cross-platform access or connected workflows are central to your requirements.
