SAP Cloud Identity Services is a cloud-based identity and access management service for organizations running SAP cloud, on-premises, or hybrid application landscapes. It combines authentication and single sign-on with centralized identity directories, user and group provisioning, policy-based authorization, and multi-factor authentication. SAP documents use cases for employees, partners, customers, and administrators, making the service relevant to organizations managing varied user populations across connected SAP and non-SAP systems.

Its main strength is ecosystem fit. Preconfigured integrations support SAP Build Work Zone, SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Integrated Business Planning, SAP Marketing Cloud, and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, among other SAP services. The service also supports SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect corporate identity providers, plus directory connections including Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, and SCIM 2.0. Risk-based authentication can use IP range, group, user type, and authentication method, while MFA includes TOTP and web two-factor authentication.

For organizations already invested in SAP, the combination of provisioning, lifecycle management, adaptive access rules, and authorization can provide a central identity layer across cloud and hybrid deployments. SAP presents the service as a bundled offering with SAP cloud solutions and documents tenant and licensing models, while pricing follows a contact-sales approach. Buyers should choose it when SAP integration and centralized control are priorities. Teams seeking a simple standalone SSO tool, a publicly listed per-user price, or a vendor-neutral ecosystem may find its SAP-centered approach less suitable.
