SAP BusinessObjects BI review
A traditional enterprise BI suite for SAP-centered reporting and analytics.

SAP BusinessObjects BI is an enterprise business intelligence suite for centralized reporting, data visualization, analysis, and information sharing. It is designed for organizations that need enterprise reporting, ad hoc queries, dashboards, self-service visualization, role-based information delivery, and scheduled report execution. The suite supports web, Windows, Linux, APIs, customer infrastructure, and a private cloud managed by SAP. Its strongest fit is with SAP customers that want traditional enterprise BI across a broad organizational deployment.
Pricing is structured around two listed perpetual-license plans. SAP BusinessObjects BI (user) is licensed by user and requires a quote. SAP BusinessObjects BI (CS) also uses a perpetual license and requires a quote. The published plans do not provide public numeric prices, and there is no free plan. Buyers should therefore expect a sales-led purchasing process and should compare the user-based and CS licensing approaches with their intended deployment and audience. SAP also describes a subscription-based private cloud edition alongside perpetual on-premises licensing.
The suite’s technical depth is concentrated in enterprise information delivery and SAP ecosystem fit. It connects with SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, while RESTful web services and a Java SDK support extensibility. Real-time analytics, row-level security, embedded analytics, scheduled reports, role-based dashboards, and hybrid deployment support larger governance and reporting requirements. Organizations seeking SAP-aligned reporting, self-hosted control, and structured dashboard delivery should consider it. Teams prioritizing a broad integration marketplace, straightforward public pricing, or a lightweight SaaS-first BI experience may prefer an alternative.
