A broad API management suite for SAP-centered monetization and governance.

SAP API Management is an enterprise capability within SAP Integration Suite for designing, publishing, securing, governing, monitoring, and monetizing APIs. It is aimed at organizations managing APIs across SAP and third-party systems, particularly where private-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid landscapes matter. Its feature set includes lifecycle management, security policies, quotas, throttling, usage analytics, subscriptions, developer onboarding, and a Developer Hub for discovery, documentation, testing, and consumption.
The published editions are Standard and Enhanced, with Enhanced including everything in Standard plus API anomaly detection, API traffic prediction, SAP Alert Notification Service, SAP Cloud Transport Management, and an advanced event mesh tenant. Standard includes developer portal creation, more than 160 third-party SaaS applications, asynchronous message queues, and business event publishing and consumption. A 30-day trial is available, while the product is positioned through paid Integration Suite editions rather than as a standalone free offering. Monetization supports basic charges, fixed per-API-call billing, and tiered per-API-call billing, alongside usage metering, subscription billing, overage billing, and plan building.
For SAP-centered programs, the main advantage is breadth: API management, developer experience, event capabilities, governance, and monetization are covered in one enterprise-oriented package. The trade-off is that teams seeking a focused billing product or an included payment gateway may need another solution for that part of the workflow. Choose SAP API Management when SAP integration and hybrid runtime support are central requirements; consider an alternative when you need a standalone monetization tool with built-in payment processing or a permanent free plan.
