Salesforce Agentforce is a platform for creating and deploying AI agents for customer-facing and employee-facing work. It supports low-code and pro-code development, with tools for subagents, natural-language instructions, actions, guardrails, business knowledge, and human review. Salesforce-centered teams are the clearest fit, particularly organizations that want agents to work with CRM data, Salesforce Knowledge, and established Salesforce workflows.

Pricing spans free, consumption-based, and per-user options. Salesforce Foundations is free and includes Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder, Agent Script, Agentforce Coworker, and Agentforce Vibes. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000 credits and cover customer-facing agents, employee-facing agents, Agentforce Voice, Digital Wallet, and Slackbot. Conversations cost $2 per conversation, while the Agentforce User License costs $5 per user per month with limited Salesforce CRM objects and metered usage. Agentforce add-ons cost $125 per user per month, Industries add-ons cost $150, and Agentforce 1 Editions cost $550 per user per month with the Agentforce add-on and 2.5 million Flex Credits per org per year.

Its strongest advantage is the connection between agent development and the Salesforce ecosystem. Agents can use Flows, Apex, MuleSoft APIs, CRM data, Knowledge, external systems, applications, and web or messaging channels. Testing, simulation, tracing, batch testing, REST sessions and messaging, web search, scheduled actions, event-triggered actions, and human review add control around deployment. Teams already organized around Salesforce should consider Agentforce when they need these connections and multiple building approaches. Organizations seeking an open-source platform or simpler fixed-price planning may prefer a narrower alternative.

Salesforce Agentforce pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Low-code and pro-code tools support varied development teams.
    • Testing, simulation, tracing, and batch testing support agent oversight.
    • Flows, Apex, MuleSoft, CRM data, and Knowledge connections extend agent actions.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Usage-based pricing can make conversation and credit costs harder to forecast.
    • Advanced employee access adds per-user monthly pricing.
    • The platform is proprietary rather than open source.
