SagaOS Kea Pilot review
An open-source control layer for Kea, BIND9, reservations, leases, and HA monitoring.

SagaOS Kea Pilot is a self-hosted web application for ISP network operations and enterprise network management. It brings Kea DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 administration together with BIND9 DNS and Dynamic DNS. Administrators can manage subnets, address pools, static host reservations, leases, DHCP options, client classification, DNS zones, and records. The product is aimed at organizations that manage their own network infrastructure and want a web interface over core DHCP and DNS operations.
Its main strength is the breadth of network administration in one product. Reservation management supports MAC or DUID bindings, while lease monitoring includes search and filtering. Kea high-availability cluster monitoring and configuration add an operational view for environments using failover. Dynamic DNS synchronization connects DHCP lease events with DNS management, and real-time WebSocket monitoring supports live status updates. The REST API, JWT authentication, audit logging, and change history also give teams programmatic access and a record of configuration changes.
The platform fit is deliberately focused rather than broad. SagaOS Kea Pilot integrates with Kea DHCP, BIND9 DNS, and PostgreSQL, and its deployment model is on-premises with Docker deployment and Linux installation options. It is released under the MIT License, making it a fit for teams seeking open-source control over their DHCP and DNS administration. Choose it when Kea and BIND9 are central to the network stack and self-hosting is acceptable. Organizations seeking a hosted service, a wider integration catalog, or a different DHCP and DNS ecosystem should consider alternatives.

- Adds REST API, JWT authentication, audit history, and WebSocket monitoring
- Where it doesn't
- Requires on-premises, self-hosted deployment
- Focused on Kea DHCP, BIND9 DNS, and PostgreSQL integrations
- High-availability monitoring is centered on Kea clusters
