Our verdict on SADiE
SADiE is a Windows digital audio workstation for multitrack recording, editing, mixing and mastering. It suits radio production, audio and video post-production, mastering, and broader sound-production workflows. The free SADiE 6 release gives independent producers, editors and mastering users access to a substantial desktop toolset without a software charge. Its scope extends beyond basic editing, with playlist, trim, region, 3–4 point and speech editors, plus MP3 import and export.
Its strongest fit is for workflows that combine audio production with delivery and post-production tasks. The feature set includes VST and DirectX plug-in support, playlist automation editing, CD ripping and mastering tools, and DDP creation and import. Video tools for AVI and QuickTime are available in supported configurations, while AES31 and SADiE 5.6 file interchange supports established project workflows. Hardware and audio-device compatibility covers Windows-compatible WDM or ASIO soundcards, SADiE Series 6 hardware, Prism Sound interfaces and VCS Dira! systems.
The main trade-off is platform and release scope. SADiE is Windows-only, so it is unsuitable for teams that require macOS or cross-platform deployment.
