runZero review
A broad, agentless discovery platform for teams focused on network exposure.

runZero is an asset discovery and exposure management platform for security and IT teams that need visibility across networked environments. It combines unauthenticated active scanning, passive traffic discovery, API integrations, and detailed fingerprinting to identify hardware, operating systems, software, services, vulnerabilities, certificates, wireless devices, and network relationships. Coverage spans IT, OT, IoT, cloud, mobile, and remote assets, making it suited to organizations with varied or distributed infrastructure.
Its strongest differentiator is the breadth of discovery without requiring agents. Network topology and segmentation analysis add context to inventory results, while alerts, reports, dashboards, risk findings, and API exports support operational workflows. Integrations include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Wiz, CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365 Defender, Tanium, Google Workspace, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, ServiceNow CMDB, Cisco Meraki Dashboard, and Tenable. Deployment is available through a hosted SaaS service or a self-hosted console for on-premises, private-cloud, and offline environments.
The Community Edition is designed for individuals, small businesses, and security researchers, with up to 100 assets, 30-day data retention, and one organization. The runZero Platform starts at $5,000 and adds exposure management across IT, OT, IoT, cloud, mobile, and remote assets, along with a contract-based asset limit, unlimited organizations and projects, and SaaS or self-hosted console options. Choose runZero when broad, agentless discovery and exposure context matter more than a narrowly focused inventory tool. Smaller deployments should assess whether the Community Edition's asset and retention limits fit; teams needing more capacity should consider the paid platform.
