Our verdict on Rubric

Rubric is a student engagement platform for universities, student unions, guilds, and student organizations. It combines student profiles, participation tracking, memberships, digital passes, event management, ticketing, merchandise, communications, reporting, and campus services across web, iOS, and Android. Its audience includes institutions and student groups that need one system for engagement data, member administration, events, outreach, and participation records.

The plan structure is centered on free access and transaction fees. The Free plan provides free access to all features, free items, and no selling fees for the lowest transaction-volume tier. Standard has a free monthly subscription, with transaction fees applying to paid memberships, tickets, and merchandise. Champion also has a free monthly subscription and lowers transaction fees at higher volume. The published pricing information distinguishes these transaction-based tiers by volume and region, while university-platform pricing follows a separate arrangement. This makes Rubric especially suitable for organizations that want broad functionality without a recurring subscription for the listed plans.

Its strongest differentiator is breadth: Rubric covers event creation, waitlists, ticket scanning, SMS and email campaigns, analytics, custom dashboards, attendance, grades, satisfaction, merchandise inventory, and a campus app. Student databases can include engagement scores and at-risk identification, while integrations extend to SIS, LMS, SSO, experience-management systems, and an API. That range suits institutions or organizations coordinating several engagement channels, but it may be more functionality than a small group needs if its priority is only event registration or messaging. Choose Rubric for centralized participation, membership, and campus engagement management; consider a narrower tool when transaction processing and broad student analytics are not required.
