Our verdict on Roomr
Roomr is a free mobile social meeting app for close friend groups who want to spend time together without scheduling a call. Each person has a virtual room that can be opened or locked, while friends can see availability, knock on a room, and join when access allows. Real-time audio and video, messaging, and room-activity push notifications support ongoing conversations rather than one-off calendar events. The app is listed for iPhone and requires iOS 16 or later.
Its strongest fit is the persistent-room model. Presence indicators, knock notifications, and open or locked rooms create a simple way to find friends in the moment. Invite-only access gives room owners control over who can enter, while blocking and abuse reporting provide direct safety controls. These features make Roomr more suitable for informal, friend-focused conversations than for structured meetings, presentations, or scheduled team calls.
Roomr is free, and the published App Store listing describes the app without paid tiers. That keeps the product straightforward for iOS users who want drop-in audio and video rooms, but its narrow social focus limits its role in broader meeting workflows. The product does not include verified screen sharing, spatial audio, or integrations, and it is not positioned as a conventional business meeting platform. Choose Roomr for spontaneous conversations among close friends on iPhone; choose another tool if you need broader platform coverage, business integrations, or presentation-oriented meeting features.
