Our verdict on Rock
Rock combines team chat, task management, notes, files and meeting links in shared spaces. It is aimed at teams coordinating projects with clients, freelancers or other guests, and can suit small teams that want discussion and assigned work together. Chat includes threads, mentions, polls, voice notes and reactions; tasks can be viewed as boards, lists, calendars or personal task lists. The product is available on web, desktop and mobile, with Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android listed as platforms.
Its free plan includes unlimited 1:1 spaces and unlimited messages, but caps group spaces at 3 and provides 50 tasks and 50 notes per space. Unlimited removes those space and task limits, adds unlimited storage, and includes sprints, custom fields, recurring tasks, time tracking and iCal sync. According to the vendor's pricing page, Unlimited costs $89 per month when billed monthly or $74.92 per month when billed annually. The plan is a flat price rather than priced per seat, so buyers should compare it against their team's current collaboration costs rather than treating the listed amount as a per-user fee. A 14-day free trial is available.
Rock's breadth is most useful when project conversations need to stay alongside work items, documents and shared files. Meeting links can be started through Zoom, Google Meet or Jitsi, and file connections include Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox. Integrations also include Zapier, Slack, GitHub, Miro and Notion; Rock MCP and a custom API support AI tools and automations. The trade-off is that several capabilities, including time tracking and automation-related options, are tied to the paid plan. Teams needing only chat, or a dedicated virtual whiteboard, may prefer a narrower tool. Rock makes more sense for small teams seeking a shared project workspace with guest collaboration than for teams prioritizing a low-cost standalone chat tool.
