Roadie review
Managed Backstage with catalog, automation, documentation, scorecards, and integrations.

Roadie is a cloud-based internal developer portal built on Backstage for engineering organizations. It brings services, APIs, teams, users, and related software assets into a searchable catalog, while adding TechDocs, API specifications, self-service automation templates, Tech Insights scorecards, Kubernetes visibility, and integrations with delivery and operations tools. It is aimed at teams that want Backstage capabilities without managing every platform component themselves, especially organizations that need a managed catalog and connected engineering workflows.
Pricing is organized into three plans. Teams costs $24 per user per month with monthly billing and is shown for 50–150 developers. It includes the Backstage software catalog, automatic Backstage upgrades, TechDocs and API specs, self-service automation templates, 75+ open-source plugins, and single sign-on. Growth adds an SLA, Slack and Microsoft Teams support, custom private Backstage plugins, REST API access, advanced search, and secure on-prem connection, with custom pricing. Enterprise Context adds an integration-powered data store, hundreds of pre-built data sources, custom private data sources, relationship building, crafted context bundles, and secure on-prem connection, also with custom pricing. A 45-day trial is available, while scorecards are an optional paid extra.
Roadie’s ecosystem coverage is a central strength. Integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, AWS, Kubernetes, PagerDuty, Datadog, Jira, CircleCI, Terraform, Snyk, SonarQube, Slack, and Microsoft Teams. Catalog Builder supports integrations, data sources, entity workflows, and API ingestion, while secure broker connectivity can connect the portal to private or on-premises infrastructure. Fine-grained role-based access control supports controlled access across cataloged resources. Choose Roadie when managed Backstage, broad integrations, self-service workflows, and private connectivity matter. Teams seeking a free plan, fully open-source deployment, or a generally available self-hosted option should consider alternatives.
