Rivium Cloud review
A broad backend and engagement stack, with service-by-service pricing and no serverless functions.

Rivium Cloud is a Backend-as-a-Service platform for developers building web, iOS, and Android applications. It combines authentication, relational data, offline-first realtime synchronization, file storage, push notifications, chat, error tracking, feature flags, and A/B testing under one API key and dashboard. Authentication supports SSO, JWT tokens, social login, and role-based access control, while storage includes CDN delivery, image transformations, and access controls. It is aimed at teams that want backend capabilities and product-engagement tools in the same service portfolio.
Pricing is organized by individual Rivium service rather than a single bundled platform plan. Free options include Rivium Trace Free with error tracking and email alerts, Rivium Push Free with push notification delivery, and A/B Testing Free with basic analytics. Rivium Trace Pro costs $29 per month and adds APM and Web Vitals, source maps and dSYM, plus Slack and email alerts; Trace Business costs $49 per month and adds spike detection, priority support, and all integrations. Rivium Push Pro costs $19 per month with A/B testing and scheduled sends, while Push Business costs $39 per month with advanced A/B testing, early stopping, and a sample calculator. A/B Testing Pro costs $19 per month and adds targeting rules, Bayesian analysis, and a sample size calculator. Paid modules start at $19 per month.
The breadth is the main reason to consider Rivium Cloud. A single platform covers backend access, synchronization, storage, messaging, delivery analytics, crash reporting, feature rollouts, and conversion tracking across web and mobile platforms. The trade-off is that buyers must evaluate and budget for services separately, and the platform does not provide verified generated APIs or serverless functions. Rivium states that only Trace is self-hostable today; the other Cloud services are not self-hostable yet. Choose Rivium Cloud for mobile products that need backend and engagement features together. Choose an alternative if serverless functions, generated APIs, or self-hosting across the full platform are priorities.
Rivium Cloud pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Authentication includes SSO, JWT, social login, and role-based access control
- Offline-first realtime sync includes conflict resolution
- Push, chat, analytics, flags, and A/B testing share one dashboard
- Where it doesn't
- Paid pricing is split across individual services rather than one platform plan
- Serverless functions and verified generated APIs are not included
- Only Rivium Trace is currently self-hostable
