Our verdict on RimSort

RimSort is a free, open-source desktop mod manager and load-order sorter for RimWorld. It is designed for players managing sizable or frequently changing mod lists, particularly those built around Steam Workshop content. Windows, macOS, and Linux support gives it a broader platform footprint than a single-operating-system utility. Core list management includes importing, exporting, saving, appending, and searching mod lists, with a built-in information panel for reviewing individual mods.

Its strongest area is load-order and dependency management. RimSort automatically sorts mods using mod metadata, community rules, and Steam data, then highlights missing dependencies, incompatibilities, and load-order violations. Users can edit community and personal rules, while the Steam Workshop Browser supports downloads through SteamCMD or the Steam client. SteamCMD update detection and updating add a maintenance workflow for lists that change over time. A Steam Workshop database builder and external database integration further support metadata-driven organization.

RimSort also connects with SteamCMD, the Steam client, SteamworksPy, Git, the Steam Web API, 0x0.st, and Rentry.co. Git, texture optimization, log sharing, and mod-list sharing are optional integrations, so the product can remain focused on sorting while offering additional tools around the broader mod-management process. Choose RimSort if your priority is structured RimWorld mod-list maintenance with Steam Workshop access and conflict warnings. Look elsewhere if you need a general-purpose manager for multiple games or a product with built-in AI features.
