Reqnroll review
A flexible SpecFlow migration path with broad .NET runner and IDE support.

Reqnroll is an open-source, Cucumber-style behavior-driven development framework for .NET. It is designed for teams writing executable specifications in Gherkin and running them as automated acceptance tests. The framework suits .NET teams migrating from SpecFlow as well as teams starting new BDD automation projects. It runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS, and can be used with or without an IDE.
Its strongest technical fit is the combination of migration support, runner compatibility, and execution options. Reqnroll supports step definitions through regular expressions or Cucumber Expressions, hooks, asynchronous bindings, plugins, and external binding assemblies. Teams can run scenarios, features, and test assemblies in parallel, while choosing NUnit, MSTest, TUnit, or xUnit. Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and Rider integrations also give teams several development environment options. Browser testing is supported through compatible automation integrations such as Selenium rather than through a built-in browser service.
The published plans separate the software from paid support. Community is free and includes BDD scenario automation, Visual Studio and Rider integration, community plugins, and community support. Professional costs €400 per 10 users per year and adds unlimited email support, a two-business-day SLA, and a contribution to Reqnroll sustainability. Enterprise costs €2,250 for the first 30 users per year and adds priority unlimited email support, online consultancy, signed compliance documents and confirmations, and company-wide package and special agreements. Additional Enterprise users cost €850 per 10 users per year. Choose Reqnroll for open-source .NET BDD, SpecFlow migration compatibility, and flexible runner support; consider an alternative if you need built-in browser infrastructure or a longer-established project.
