Renee File Protector is Windows desktop software for protecting files, folders, partitions, and drives on local, external, and shared storage. Its tools include hiding items, denying read or write access, password-locking, encryption, activity monitoring for selected folders, and secure deletion. That makes it a fit for individuals who want basic file-level protection on a Windows computer, rather than teams seeking a dedicated system to manage encryption keys across applications or infrastructure.

The free Trial Version can hide, lock, and write-protect files, folders, drives, and shared folders, including folders on external disks. Its default password cannot be modified, and the trial does not include technical support or upgrades. According to the vendor's pricing page, the Life-time License costs $24.95 as a one-time payment. It adds the ability to change the default password and create a custom one, retrieve the password by email, monitor reading and writing activity for specific folders, and receive technical support and upgrades. A 60-day refund period is listed.

The feature set is centered on local file and storage access: the product supports external disks, memory cards, USB devices, and shared folders, and the vendor describes its encryption as AES. It is presented as desktop file and folder protection, not as a centralized key-management service. Organizations that need documented key lifecycle controls, rotation, HSM support, or integrations should look elsewhere. For a solo user or small operation focused on controlling access to Windows files and removable storage, the lifetime license offers a straightforward scope; buyers needing broader key-management capabilities should choose a different category of tool.
