Remio is a free remote desktop application for accessing and controlling Mac, Windows, and Linux computers from supported client devices. It is aimed at individuals and small teams that want direct computer access without creating an account or paying for a plan. Device pairing uses a QR code or six-digit code, while attended control supports keyboard, mouse, touch, and gamepad input. Supported client platforms include Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, iPadOS, and Android.

The published Free plan costs $0 per user and includes all features, with no time limit and unlimited device pairs. Its feature set is broader than basic screen viewing: remote desktop streaming reaches up to 4K at 120 fps, and sessions can include system audio, two-way clipboard synchronization, one-way file transfer to the host computer, privacy mode, remote unlock, app launching, focus mode, and live quality adjustments. Unattended access and Wake-on-LAN also support remote access when no one is at the host computer. Direct peer-to-peer connections are used where possible, with end-to-end encryption for sessions.

Remio’s main trade-off is its focused scope. The product supports core remote access across major desktop and mobile platforms, but it does not currently include session recording, and its newer 2024 founding year points to a less established ecosystem than mature remote desktop suites. The absence of paid tiers keeps the product simple for personal access, but offers less room for organizations seeking differentiated business plans. Choose Remio for free, high-performance device access, especially when account-free pairing and broad input support matter. Consider an alternative if recording, a wider integration ecosystem, or tiered business packaging is central to the purchase.
