Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines review
A pipeline-first OpenShift product that adds signing, SBOM access, and vulnerability visibility.

Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines is a cloud-native continuous integration and continuous delivery solution for development teams running containerized build, test, and deployment workflows on Red Hat OpenShift. Based on Kubernetes resources and the open source Tekton framework, it supports declarative pipeline definitions, versioned configurations, and Pipelines as Code in Git repositories. OpenShift teams looking to add security visibility to delivery workflows are the clearest fit, especially when their process already uses Kubernetes-native resources.
Its security value is concentrated in the pipeline. Pipeline signing is supported through Tekton Chains, while pipeline runs can expose vulnerability visibility through integration with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security. Teams can also view and download SBOMs for pipeline runs. These capabilities connect supply-chain checks with build and delivery activity, but the documented workflows may involve additional components: vulnerability visibility uses Advanced Cluster Security, and SBOM workflows use pipeline tasks and external tooling. Organizations seeking a dedicated standalone container-security platform should look elsewhere.
For workflow coverage, the product supports GitHub and Bitbucket webhooks, pipeline run logs and management through the OpenShift console, and integrations across Tekton Pipelines, Tekton Triggers, Tekton Chains, Tekton Results, and Red Hat OpenShift GitOps. Build workflows can use Buildah, Buildpacks, Kaniko, and Source-to-Image. The self-hosted Linux deployment model fits teams operating Red Hat OpenShift environments. Pricing is available through contact with sales rather than published plan tiers. Choose OpenShift Pipelines when Kubernetes-native CI/CD and pipeline-oriented security capabilities are the priority; choose an alternative when runtime protection, registry scanning, or admission control must be the primary focus.
