Our verdict on Reactional Music
Reactional Music is an interactive music framework for game teams and developers of other interactive applications. Its Reactional Engine generates music note by note with virtual instruments, while the Composer tool converts DAW projects into interactive material. Developers can combine generated themes with commercially licensed tracks, search a catalog by genre and mood, and use natural-language prompts through AI Search. The platform is aimed at teams that need music to respond to gameplay rather than simply produce finished instrumental tracks.
Its strongest distinction is control at runtime. An API exposes gameplay callbacks and musical controls, allowing changes to key, scale, tempo, instrumentation and structure. Themes can include parts, macros, stingers and playable instruments, and teams can preview interactivity before exporting bundles for game-engine integration. Unity and Unreal plugins are available, with Wwise and FMOD integrations supporting established audio workflows. Godot is listed as coming soon, so engine coverage is broad but not yet uniform.
The Free plan costs 0 USD per month and includes the Reactional Plugin for Unity and Unreal, music-library search and curation, dynamic interactive music themes, the Reactional Composer tool, and forum and Discord support. The Studio plan adds global licensing coverage, monetisation support, a dedicated contact, curated music assistance and an optional Reactional splash-screen. Studio follows a contact-sales model, while track licensing is handled separately. Choose Reactional Music when interactive, procedural composition and game callbacks are central requirements; teams seeking a general-purpose consumer track generator may find its game-engine focus narrower than needed.
