RdpGuard review
Blocks attacking IPs after failed logins across Windows server services.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
RdpGuard monitors Windows server logs for failed login attempts and blocks attacking IP addresses. It is aimed at administrators of Windows servers who want host-based protection against brute-force attempts on RDP and other services, rather than a network-wide intrusion detection and prevention system. The product can protect RDP, FTP, IMAP, POP3, SMTP, MySQL, MS-SQL, IIS, SSH and other services. It runs as a Windows service after logout, and supports small and mid-market organizations.
Its scope is practical for repeated login failures: administrators can set a failure threshold and blocking period, choose selected ports or all server ports, and manage IP addresses, ranges and CIDRs through a whitelist and permanent blacklist. Centralized IP Cloud intelligence is intended to help with distributed brute-force attacks. A command-line interface supports blocking, unblocking and exporting IPs. These controls make RdpGuard a focused fit for host-level blocking; teams seeking broader network traffic inspection should consider a network-oriented IDS/IPS instead.
According to the published plan, RdpGuard License costs $89.95 as a one-time payment for one computer and is a lifetime license. It includes one year of upgrades, support, IP Cloud and Geo-IP access; continued maintenance after that year is described separately, and IP Cloud has separate subscription pricing. A 30-day free trial and 30-day refund period are also offered. Support channels are email and documentation. Choose RdpGuard when the priority is blocking brute-force IPs on Windows server services with local controls; it is less suitable for organizations that need coverage beyond Windows hosts or want a broad network-security platform.
