Raygun APM monitors server-side application performance by capturing request traces and presenting performance trends, flame-chart diagnostics, method timings, queries, and external API calls. It is aimed at software teams that need to investigate request bottlenecks and connect trace findings to deployments or development workflows. Raygun documents support for Node.js, Ruby, and .NET environments. APM is part of Raygun’s broader monitoring platform, alongside Crash Reporting and Real User Monitoring, but its focus here is application performance monitoring.

Pricing is based on reserved trace volume. According to Raygun’s published plans, Basic costs $80 per 100,000 traces per month with annual billing or $120 monthly; it includes unlimited apps and members, Apdex, sampling and code filtering, flamechart diagnostics, and deployment tracking. Team costs $160 per 200,000 traces per month annually or $240 monthly, adding inbound filters, third-party integrations, unlimited custom dashboards, and source code integration. Business costs $800 per 1,000,000 traces per month annually or $1,200 monthly, adding SAML SSO, a dedicated account manager, priority support, and training and onboarding. Enterprise has custom terms. A 14-day trial is available.

Search by URL, status code, or duration, automatic issue creation, deployment tracking, and integrations with GitHub, Jira, PagerDuty, Slack, Bitbucket, and Azure Repos support investigation and follow-through. The trade-off is a narrower scope: Raygun APM is cloud-based and does not include log management or synthetic monitoring. Teams seeking request-level diagnostics within that scope may find its trace-centered approach a fit; teams needing those other monitoring functions should consider a broader tool. The Business tier may suit organizations that need SAML SSO and priority support, while smaller teams can start with Basic or Team.

Raygun APM pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Flame charts show request lifecycles and method-level timings.
    • Search and filters narrow traces by URL, status code, or duration.
    • Deployment tracking and source-code integrations connect traces to team workflows.
  • Where it doesn't
    • There is no free plan; the paid plans are priced by trace volume.
    • Basic lacks the inbound filters, dashboards, and source-code integration in Team.
    • The product focuses on APM rather than log management or synthetic monitoring.
