QuickBooks Time is cloud-based time-tracking software from Intuit for teams coordinating work across jobs, shifts, and locations. Employees can submit timesheets for approval, track time in a browser or the QuickBooks Workforce app, and record on-site clock-ins through Time Kiosk. Project tracking includes estimates, actuals, and activity feeds, while scheduling, GPS tracking, and geofencing make the product relevant to field teams. It is especially suited to organizations already using QuickBooks Online; teams without that account should look at alternatives that do not require it.
The feature set connects time entry with workforce administration and payroll workflows. QuickBooks Time offers time-off management, alerts, customizable reports, and payroll and accounting integrations. Listed integrations include QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop, ADP, Square Payroll, Paychex, Power BI, Dropbox, Google Drive, Salesforce, and Procore. Web, iOS, and Android access, plus cloud and mobile deployment, support employees and managers working from different locations. A tablet-based kiosk provides another clock-in option for on-site teams.
QuickBooks Time is paid software with a 30-day trial that does not require a card to start. Its named plans are Time Premium and Time Elite; both list the Workforce app, payroll and invoicing integration, time-off management, alerts and notifications, photo attachments, and Time Kiosk. The product notes that a card is requested to continue after the trial and that plan details can vary by region or subscription context. Because the plan prices are not stated here, buyers should confirm current pricing and compare the tiers before subscribing. Choose it when QuickBooks ties, approvals, and location-aware field tracking matter; consider another tool if a QuickBooks Online account requirement is a poor fit.
QuickBooks Time pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Timesheet submission and approval workflows support review before payroll.
- GPS, geofencing, and job or shift scheduling suit field coordination.
- Time Kiosk enables on-site clock-ins; mobile tracking works through the Workforce app.
- Where it doesn't
- Requires a QuickBooks Online account.
- No free plan; paid plan prices are not included here.
- Premium and Elite highlight the same listed features, so their distinction is unclear.
