QNAP Hybrid Backup Sync is a QNAP NAS application for backing up, restoring, and synchronizing files across local NAS storage, remote NAS or servers, external devices, and cloud storage. It is aimed at individuals, small businesses, and organizations using QNAP NAS infrastructure. HBS supports one-way, active, and two-way synchronization, file and folder restore from QDFF backup folders, scheduled jobs, USB One Touch Copy for supported QNAP NAS devices, and backup version management with retention by versions or days.

The published product details describe HBS as license-free, making its plan structure straightforward: the available offering is free rather than divided into paid tiers. That free scope includes source-side QuDedup deduplication, pre-backup encryption and compression, backup data integrity checks, and immutable backups to QuTS hero WORM folders. These features give QNAP users control over storage efficiency, protection settings, retention, and recovery workflows without introducing a recurring software license tier.

Its ecosystem fit is a central strength. HBS supports RTRR, rsync, FTP, WebDAV, and CIFS/SMB, along with Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Azure, Backblaze B2, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint, and Wasabi. That breadth suits QNAP environments with mixed NAS, server, removable-device, and cloud targets. The tradeoff is scope: HBS is focused on file, folder, device, and storage synchronization rather than virtual-machine protection. QNAP presents VM backup as a capability of HDP for PC/VM, while WordPress database backup is associated with HDP for WordPress. Choose HBS for broad, free backup and synchronization around QNAP NAS storage; choose another QNAP product when VM or WordPress database protection is the primary requirement.
