Pyto review
A capable paid Python workspace for Apple devices, with debugging and local execution.

Pyto is a local Python IDE for iPhone, iPad, and Apple silicon Mac. It is aimed at developers who want to write and run Python on Apple devices, with an editor, interpreter, terminal, debugger, project support, and access to system integrations. Its local execution model also suits scripts that need iOS-specific APIs or device-based workflows.
Pricing is split between two one-time purchases. The Lite Version costs $7.99 and unlocks Pyto without its third-party libraries. The Full Version costs $14.99 and unlocks Pyto with all its third-party libraries. A 3-day trial is available, but there is no free plan. The main buying decision is therefore whether the bundled third-party libraries justify the higher Full Version price for scientific, data-science, or other library-dependent work.
Pyto’s strongest area is the range of development tools combined in an Apple-focused app. The Python 3.10 interpreter, syntax highlighting, code completion, pdb debugger, breakpoints, embedded UNIX terminal, hierarchical file browser, and PyPI module installation cover more than basic script editing. Shortcuts actions and x-callback URLs support automation, while C and C++ compiler tooling and an LLVM bitcode interpreter extend its scope. However, its code intelligence is basic, and environment management is not a verified part of the offering. Choose Pyto for local Python work across iOS and macOS; consider another IDE if advanced code intelligence or managed environments is a priority.

- Supports PyPI modules, scientific libraries, Shortcuts, and x-callback URLs
- Where it doesn't
- No free plan; access starts with a paid version
- Code intelligence is limited to basic completion features
- Does not provide verified environment management
