PythonAnywhere review
A focused managed home for Python apps, with a useful free tier and browser-first workflow.

PythonAnywhere combines a browser-based Python development environment with managed hosting for web applications. It is aimed at developers, educators, students, and teams that want to write Python, work with Bash and database consoles, and deploy without managing server infrastructure. The service supports Django, Flask, Bottle, web2py, and other WSGI frameworks, with SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL options. IPython and Jupyter notebooks add a useful path for exploratory work and teaching, while Git, Mercurial, Subversion, GitHub, and Bitbucket workflows support several development styles.
Pricing is straightforward at the entry level. The free Beginner plan includes one web app, one web worker, two consoles, 512 MB of private file storage, and restricted outbound Internet access. The Developer plan costs $10 per month and adds one web app, three web workers, unlimited Python and Bash consoles, 5 GB of disk space, 20 scheduled tasks, and one always-on task. The Custom plan allows a tailored combination of features, with up to 20 web apps, selectable web workers and disk space, and up to 100,000 CPU-seconds per day. Paid plans also include custom-domain support, SSH and SFTP access, and always-on tasks.
The main strength is focus: Python development, deployment, scheduled work, databases, and notebooks are brought together in a browser. That makes PythonAnywhere a sensible choice for small applications, learning environments, prototypes, and teams that prefer hosted infrastructure over server administration. Its ecosystem fit is practical rather than broad, with multiple version-control workflows and named GitHub and Bitbucket integrations. Choose another managed cloud host if you need a non-web client, unrestricted outbound access on a free plan, or a broader platform scope beyond Python-centered applications.
