Pyroscope is an open-source continuous profiling database for development and platform teams investigating application performance. It aggregates, stores, queries, and visualizes profiles covering CPU usage, memory allocation, synchronization, and other runtime behavior down to source-code lines. Teams can use SDK instrumentation for C/C++, Go, Rust, Zig, Java, .NET, Python, Ruby, PHP, Node.js, and Perl, or use auto-instrumentation through Grafana Alloy and eBPF. Deployment options include web, Windows, macOS, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments, with Grafana Cloud Profiles also available.

Pricing is accessible at the entry level. The Free plan costs $0 per month and includes 50 GB ingested per month, 14-day retention, community support, and no credit card requirement. The Pro plan costs $19 per month, includes 50 GB of monthly ingestion and 30-day retention, and adds 8×5 email support. Pro also applies usage-based charges for processed, written, and retained profile data, so teams with expanding profile volumes should account for more than the base subscription. An Enterprise plan adds custom retention, premium support, and deployment flexibility.

The product’s main strength is its combination of profiling depth and observability fit. CPU and memory profiling, flame graphs, histograms, tables, charts, server HTTP and Connect APIs, durable object-storage-backed retention, high availability, horizontal scaling, multi-tenancy, and tenant isolation support larger operational environments. Grafana and Grafana Alloy integrations make it a natural choice for teams already working in that ecosystem. Pyroscope is a strong fit for organizations that want open-source profiling with a free starting point and room to scale. Teams seeking a narrowly packaged profiler with predictable costs at higher usage should examine the Pro billing model closely before choosing it.

    • Free plan includes 50 GB monthly ingestion and 14-day retention
    • Supports CPU, memory, and thread profiling across many languages
    • Grafana, eBPF, APIs, multi-tenancy, and horizontal scaling
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pro adds usage-based charges for processed, written, and retained data
    • Free plan support is limited to the community
    • Advanced deployments may require instrumentation or platform configuration
