PX Secrets is a free, open-source secrets manager for developers, AI builders, homelabbers, and system administrators who want local storage without a cloud subscription. It runs on macOS or Linux and stores vault data using SOPS and AGE encryption. Access is available through a dark web interface, CLI commands, and a local API for scripts and AI-agent workflows. Notes, service grouping, search, configurable vault and key paths, and optional native-window mode support everyday vault organization.

Its self-hosted deployment model keeps the product focused and gives users several ways to run it, including Docker containers and a headless background-server mode. The CLI can list and retrieve secrets, while the API uses bearer-token authentication for requests. Imports and exports cover .env, JSON, and YAML, which helps when moving existing configuration into or out of the vault. Clipboard contents auto-clear after 30 seconds, adding a practical safeguard for common retrieval workflows. Category specifications also list CI/CD injection and Kubernetes integration support.

PX Secrets is a strong fit for individuals who want a lightweight, local vault and are comfortable managing their own deployment. It is less suitable for teams seeking a broader secrets-management platform with automated rotation, dynamic secrets, audit logging, or a wide integration ecosystem. Secret rotation is described as a future capability, so organizations that require established rotation workflows should choose another option. Overall, its value comes from combining encrypted local storage with GUI, CLI, API, and container access rather than from extensive enterprise controls.
