Pusher Channels delivers application events over WebSockets, giving developers a hosted way to add live updates to web and mobile products. Its APIs and client libraries can support dashboards, notifications, chat, activity feeds and other synchronized features. The service is cloud-hosted, so applications connect to Pusher’s endpoints instead of running the realtime infrastructure themselves. It is aimed at developers who need event delivery and presence, rather than a broad communications suite.

Channels include public, private and presence options, with authentication for private and presence channels. Applications can broadcast events from servers or send client events; realtime presence and member state support features that need to reflect who is connected. Connection and subscription webhooks provide event signals for application workflows. These capabilities make the product a fit for synchronized interfaces and user activity features, but its stated scope is narrower than communications platforms built around voice, video, SMS or WhatsApp.

The published plans start with Sandbox, a free Channels plan intended for development and small workloads. Startup is a paid Channels plan, while Pro and Business add higher connection capacity, with Business described for larger applications. Premium offers custom pricing and capacity. That tier structure gives teams a way to start without a paid plan and move to higher capacity as their application grows, though the precise price and capacity depend on the chosen plan. Choose Pusher Channels when WebSocket broadcasting and presence are the main requirement; consider another product if you need messaging channels such as SMS or WhatsApp, calling, video, or a no-code builder.
