PTC FMS is a web-based fleet management and compliance platform from PTC Transport for UK commercial vehicle operators. It supports HGV, PSV, van, trailer, plant and other assets, bringing maintenance planning, workshop workflows, driver checks, tachograph analysis, training, tracking and compliance records into one system. Drivers and transport managers can access the platform through web, iOS and Android applications, while secure document storage and audit history support record keeping.

Pricing follows a contact-sales model, with per-vehicle, per-module monthly pricing rather than named public plans. That structure may suit operators that want to shape a package around their fleet and compliance requirements, but buyers will need a sales discussion to understand the cost of the modules they need. The ecosystem is a notable strength: PTC FMS connects with DVLA, DVSA Earned Recognition, Microlise, Samsara, Webfleet, Isotrak, Sage and Geotab. API access, GPS tracking, geofencing and trip history also support connections between operational, telematics and finance workflows.

Its strongest area is the combination of workshop control and compliance administration. Live maintenance planning, paperless job cards, defect close-outs, parts and labour tracking, photo and video defect capture, automated driver licence rechecks, remote tachograph downloads and training records cover a wide operational range. Fuel cost tracking is also listed, alongside audit history for ongoing oversight. PTC FMS is a strong fit for UK operators that need maintenance and compliance managed together across multiple asset types. Fleets seeking only a simple maintenance scheduler, or operators outside this UK-focused compliance environment, may prefer a narrower alternative.

PTC FMS pros and cons

    • Connects with major telematics and finance platforms
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires a sales conversation
    • The feature set may exceed the needs of smaller fleets
    • UK compliance focus may not suit fleets outside this operating context
