Proxy Switcher is desktop software for configuring, testing, organizing, and automatically switching proxy servers. It is aimed at individual users and webmasters who need to change proxy settings, inspect geographically varied search results, or manage user-supplied proxy lists. The software supports HTTP, HTTPS/SSL, SOCKS v4, SOCKS v5, Elite, Elite-SSL, and password-protected or private proxies. Its feature set includes proxy discovery, server testing, anonymity checks, list folders, and an integrated SOCKS v4 server in supported editions.

The published plans show a freemium structure with a free plan and a 15-day trial. Standard includes a proxy manager, automatic proxy switching, free technical support, and free lifetime upgrades. PRO adds anonymity-level testing and an internal proxy server while retaining automatic switching, support, and lifetime upgrades. Both paid editions are presented as desktop licenses, with Lite, Standard, and PRO editions available from the vendor. This makes the edition differences more relevant than a broad service bundle: buyers should select based on whether proxy management alone is sufficient or anonymity testing and an internal SOCKS server are needed.

Proxy Switcher’s strongest fit is a Windows workflow centered on switching and evaluating proxy lists. HTTP POST and HTTPS connection testing, HTTP and SOCKS server detection, and Keep-Alive switching provide several ways to inspect and change connections. The trade-off is platform scope: it is Windows-only and does not provide API access, so it is less suitable for users seeking cross-platform tooling or programmatic proxy management. Choose it for desktop proxy list handling and testing; consider an alternative if browser-independent automation through an API is central to the workflow.

Proxy Switcher pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Finds and tests HTTP and SOCKS proxy servers
    • Supports automatic and Keep-Alive switching modes
    • Organizes proxy lists with folders and subfolders
  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows-only desktop software
    • API access is not available
    • Advanced anonymity testing is limited to PRO
