Proxim is a Windows desktop companion for developers, modders, and friends creating or playing small peer-to-peer multiplayer games. Its main purpose is proximity voice chat spatialized to player positions, supported by peer-to-peer multiplayer signaling and voice rooms joined through generated codes. The product is designed for games with approximately 4–12 players and is especially suited to developers working in Godot.

Integration is centered on the Godot SDK, with a local WebSocket integration protocol for connecting a game to the companion app. Proxim also provides WebRTC handoff for direct multiplayer. Players install the Windows companion, sign in, generate or share join codes, and join voice rooms. The app runs in the system tray and includes microphone, output-device, and player-audio controls, giving small game projects a focused path to positional communication without requiring a general-purpose chat platform.

The main trade-off is scope. Proxim is currently in alpha and supports Windows 10/11, so it fits PC-first projects rather than games that need mobile clients or broad platform coverage. Its feature set is concentrated on proximity voice, signaling, room access, and the Godot development workflow; it is not positioned as a community or general-purpose chat product. Choose Proxim when a small Godot multiplayer game needs spatialized voice and peer-to-peer connectivity. Consider another option if mobile support, a wider ecosystem, or a more mature release is central to the project.
