PromptRAID is an open-source Python command-line framework for security researchers and developers evaluating prompt-injection resilience in LLM-based agents. It generates payload variants, runs them through supported model providers, judges transcripts, stores results, and exports reports. The self-hosted tool is designed for teams that want a repeatable CLI workflow rather than a hosted testing service.

Its main strength is the breadth of its testing workflow. Payload mutation covers encoding, role-play, delimiter-breaking, and indirect tool-output techniques, while MITRE ATLAS mapping adds a structured taxonomy for organizing test coverage. Transcript judging separates success, partial-compliance, refusal, and inconclusive outcomes, giving teams more than a simple pass-or-fail result. SQLite persistence keeps run and per-payload results available for later review, and JSON and HTML exports support different reporting needs.

PromptRAID also fits a multi-provider evaluation process through its harness for Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, Cerebras, and OpenRouter. The command-line interface covers taxonomy, mutation, judging, runs, demos, and reports, with installation through pipx or a Python virtual environment. Its focus is narrower than a full AI security testing suite: the documented scope covers prompt-injection and jailbreak testing, while the data-leakage taxonomy has no mutation generator yet. Teams wanting provider-agnostic, locally controlled CLI testing should consider PromptRAID; organizations seeking hosted deployment, broader platform coverage, or data-leakage mutation should look for a different tool.

PromptRAID pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Mutates payloads across several prompt-attack techniques
    • Maps tests to MITRE ATLAS techniques
    • Exports JSON and HTML reports with transcript verdicts
  • Where it doesn't
    • Self-hosted deployment requires local installation
    • Runs on Windows and Linux only
    • Data-leakage testing has no mutation generator yet
