PrivX PAM review
Certificate-based SSH access with strong controls, recording, and hybrid-environment support.

PrivX PAM is a privileged access management platform for enterprise IT, DevOps, and infrastructure teams managing SSH, RDP, web, database, and network targets. Its core approach uses identity-based authorization and short-lived certificates to control privileged access. Role-based access control, access groups, permissions, policies, time restrictions, and IP restrictions support detailed governance, while secrets management, session recording, playback, and audit trails add oversight. Browser-based and native client access are supported across web, Windows, macOS, Linux, and API environments.
The strongest fit is for organizations that need certificate-based access across hybrid infrastructure. PrivX supports on-premises, cloud, and Kubernetes deployments, with high availability and load balancing for deployment resilience. Directory and identity integrations include Active Directory, LDAP, OIDC, and SCIM. Cloud and infrastructure connections include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, Ansible, Chef, and REST API access. Native SSH, SCP, SFTP, port forwarding, and X11 support make it suitable when privileged workflows need more than browser-only access.
According to the vendor's pricing approach, PrivX uses contact sales rather than published plan pricing, with licensing described as per host and per user. A free test-drive trial is available, while the product does not have a free plan. Buyers should choose PrivX when short-lived SSH certificates, centralized access controls, session evidence, secrets management, and SIEM forwarding are priorities across mixed environments. It is less suited to teams that require a free production tier, self-serve pricing, or published concurrent-session limits before starting a purchase evaluation.
