PowerGREP review
A deep Windows search utility for professionals working across files, documents, and email stores.

PowerGREP is a Windows desktop search and text-processing tool for developers, system administrators, researchers, and other professionals who need to locate or modify information across many files. It searches local and network locations, combining literal text queries with Perl-compatible regular expressions. File-name searches and filtering help narrow large collections, while search-and-replace tools support editing across matching files.
Its standout strength is breadth across difficult content types. PowerGREP can search inside ZIP archives, disk images, proprietary formats such as PDF and DOC, and several email stores, including Outlook PST and OST, DBX, MBOX, MSG, and EML. Email attachment searching extends that coverage beyond message text. Results can be inspected and edited, with replacement and undo available for workflows that require controlled changes rather than simple lookup. This makes it a strong fit when one tool needs to cover documents, source files, archives, and mailboxes together.
PowerGREP is paid software with a 15-day evaluation period and license options for one, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 75, or 100 users. The product is focused on Windows, so teams working across other desktop platforms should look elsewhere. Users who need advanced content coverage, regular-expression searching, and controlled replacement should consider it; people seeking a lightweight file finder, a free plan, or broader platform support may prefer a narrower alternative.
