Our verdict on PourCost
PourCost is a bar and restaurant management platform for bartenders, bar managers and operators who need to track ingredient costs and analyze drinks and menus. Its free plan is aimed at operators who want recipe costing, inventory costs and invoice processing in one place. Web, iOS and Android access lets data sync across devices, while staff study guides and quizzes extend it beyond back-office cost analysis. The product is positioned for solo operators through mid-market teams, including operators with several locations.
Its strongest fit is cost visibility around recipes and purchasing. Users can build cocktails with real-time cost calculations, scan distributor invoices with AI line-item extraction, and track dynamic COGS and pour-cost figures. Supplier price-change alerts can surface ingredient cost shifts, while menu analysis, pricing suggestions, performance dashboards and variance reporting help operators assess menu economics. These features support analysis of expected costs and menu performance; they do not amount to pour tracking, which is not included.
PourCost also offers AI-generated staff study guides and quizzes, making training aids part of its bar-management scope. The tradeoff is a product centered on costing, invoices and menus rather than tracking actual pours or integrating broader bar workflows; businesses that require pour tracking should consider an alternative with that capability. The vendor says paid tiers are planned and invites users to join a waitlist for launch pricing, with paid features and pricing presented in-app. For now, PourCost suits operators seeking a free tool for recipe and cost analysis, while buyers who need defined paid plans or pour tracking should wait or look elsewhere.
