Our verdict on Postshot

Postshot is a Windows desktop application for reconstructing photorealistic 3D scenes and objects from regular RGB photos or video. It is aimed at creators and production teams working with radiance fields and Gaussian splatting rather than conventional mesh-focused scanning. Local processing, automatic camera tracking, image masking, region-of-interest training, rendering, and scene export support a workflow that moves from captured imagery to navigable 3D scenes.

The listed Free, Indie, and Studio plans each show €0.00 per month. Free includes unlimited image count, video length, and model size, plus training and rendering up to 4K SDR, camera-pose and point export, and non-commercial use. Indie adds watermark-free image and video rendering, commercial use, PLY and SPZ radiance-field export, and unlimited Unreal Engine and After Effects render nodes. Studio adds EXR, TIF, DNG, and RAW image support, higher-than-4K and HDR rendering, a command-line interface, and AprilTag scene alignment. This makes the plan structure easy to compare, although the practical distinction is mainly commercial rights, media support, output quality, and production controls.

Postshot’s standout strength is its focused radiance-field workflow. Camera tracking and pose generation reduce manual scene preparation, while masking can address occluders and backgrounds, ROI training can concentrate processing on a selected area, and AprilTag alignment supports more controlled scene capture. Rendering is available for images and video, and command-line training gives Studio users an automation path. Unreal Engine and Adobe After Effects integrations improve its fit for visualization and compositing workflows. Choose Postshot if Gaussian-splatting scenes, local Windows processing, and production exports are the priority. Choose another tool if you need a web app, API access, or conventional scan outputs as the primary result.
