Postico 2 is a desktop database client for macOS users working with PostgreSQL and compatible systems. It is designed for business users, analysts, software developers, students, and educators who need to browse, search, filter, edit, and enter table data. Support includes PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Greenplum, and CockroachDB, along with limited compatibility for some other PostgreSQL-wire-protocol databases. Its scope is database use rather than administration tasks such as backup, permissions management, or monitoring.

The SQL workflow is a central strength. Postico 2 provides a query editor with multiple files, tabs, and folders, plus SQL autocomplete and local formatting with pgFormatter. Users can view query history, create startup queries, filter servers, and organize connections with nested groups. Database structure work is covered through a graphical table structure editor, DDL view, and editors for functions and stored procedures. CSV import includes transactional rollback on errors, while tables and query results can be exported as TSV, TSV with headers, CSV, CSV with headers, or SQL INSERT statements.

Pricing is a one-time purchase: the Student License costs $29 for one user and one device; the Personal License costs $69 for one user and up to three devices; the Commercial License costs $99 per device and is perpetual; and the Team License costs $799 for multiple users and up to 10 devices. Integrations include iCloud, Dropbox, AWS IAM, and Microsoft Entra ID, while SSH-tunneled PostgreSQL connections support remote access patterns. Postico 2 suits Mac users who want a focused PostgreSQL client with editing, SQL, structure, import, and export tools. Teams needing cross-platform access or administration features should choose a different type of database product.
